Partick Thistle v Dunfermline - Partick aiming to end rot
Posted Saturday, September 25, 2010 by PA
Partick Thistle are out to end a run of four successive league defeats by toppling league leaders Dunfermline at Firhill.
However, they will have to do so without club captain Alan Archibald, who is out after coming off early in his comeback game at Palmerston last weekend, along with midfielder Ryan MacBeth.
Firhill assistant manager Ian Maxwell has admitted everyone in the Firhill camp is irritated by the way their league season has started, saying: "It is a really frustrating time as there is not much needed fixed and therefore we are just carrying on as normal.
"We need a win to get some confidence about the place and doing that against Dunfermline would be excellent. Last week at Queen of the South we were winning comfortably and then they came out with two great goals from their first shots at goal."
First Division leaders Dunfermline will be hoping their trip to Glasgow is more successful than their midweek jaunt to the city, in which they were beaten 7-2 by Rangers in the Co-operative Insurance Cup.
Full back Jack Ross is still not fit enough to begin his Pars career and David Graham remains out after surgery, but Gary Mason is available again.
East End Park assistant boss Gerry McCabe said: "We were happy with the way we attacked Rangers and we could have scored a couple of more goals, however, defensively we need to do better.
"We went and had a go which we will no doubt do against Thistle but we have to tighten up at the back."
