Depleted Alloa face Ayr

Posted Saturday, September 11, 2010 by PA

Alloa will be without a host of players when Ayr United visit Recreation Park.

Midfielders Brown Ferguson and Jason Thomson are out with injury along with striker Stuart Noble.

Winger Dougie Wilson is still absent because of a broken finger and the attacking threat of Andy Scott looks set to be missing as well as he has been hit by a bout of shingles.

Wasps manager Allan Maitland said: "Ayr have a good squad and have real quality in attack but it is a game we are looking forward to and a chance for us to get going again after losing at Brechin."

Ayr will travel without three key players.

Defender Bobby Donnelly is injured, midfielder Dean Keenan banned and summer signing Stephen McKeown unavailable.

Somerset Park manager Brian Reid has told his players to cut out the defensive mistakes that saw them fall two behind to Partick Thistle last week in the ALBA Challenge Cup.

Reid said: "We played some really good stuff going forward and had them pinned back for the last half hour but there is no point in doing that if you are going to give a side a two goal lead.

"You cannot start to play once you go behind and we cannot gift away chances like we did in that game as Alloa will punish us in the same manner that Partick Thistle did."
