Airdrie will hand a debut to Chris Craig when Brechin are the visitors.
United's interim boss Jimmy Boyle moved into the transfer market to sign former Rangers and Dumbarton striker Craig and his arrival has been timed well as winger Gary Muir and frontman Ryan Wallace are still absent through injury.
Boyle said: "I am delighted to bring Chris in as he has a great pedigree and will add something to our strike force.
"This will be a tough, tough test for us as Brechin are a really good side with loads of experience.
"They also have an excellent goalscorer Rory McAllister who hurt us in the play-off semi-final last season so we need to keep him quiet this time out."
Brechin will have Jamie Redman and Gary Fusco back.
The duo have been struggling with injury but are both available again to give Weir a full squad available to him.
He said: "We have an 18-man squad at Glebe Park and all 18 of them are available for this game.
"What is more they are all desperate for a starting jersey. Having Jamie and Gary back is fantastic news as this will be a really testing game for us.
"Airdrie have done really well this season and have really battled away for Jimmy Boyle. They have scored quite a few goals so we need to keep playing at a high standard to take anything."
