Stenhousemuir v Airdrie: Selection headache for Coughlin
Posted Saturday, August 28, 2010 by PA
Stenhousemuir manager John Coughlin has selection worries for the visit of Airdrie.
Goalkeeper Chris McCluskey remains on the sidelines with an ankle problem, defender Scott Gibb is out with a groin strain and Simon Lynch is still not able to start his Stenhousemuir career.
Youngster James McLennan and Grant Plenderleith have been added from the Ochilview youth programme to bolster the numbers available to Coughlin.
Winger Grant Anderson may be included if he arrives home from holiday on time.
"Grant has been great for us since joining from Kirkintilloch Rob Roy and I will include him no problem provided he has no jet lag.
"He has kept in touch with us during his holiday and said he is fit and wanting to play."
Airdrie full back Paul Lovering looks certain to be included after overcoming a calf problem, but winger Gary Muir and striker Ryan Wallace remain sidelined.
The Diamonds' interim boss Jimmy Boyle is hoping that his young side take the lessons from their midweek 6-2 defeat at Kilmarnock in the Co-operative Insurance Cup into the game.
"Our players were up against vastly more experienced ones at Kilmarnock," he said. "I saw some good things from them and at other times our inexperience showed
"If my players can use the experience of the Kilmarnock game to put on an improved performance in this one then we may just get that first league win of the season."
