Many of the players may not have been household names, but the end outcome was the same...
Bojan, Maxwell, Barcelona
An unfamiliar Barcelona side produced a thoroughly familiar result as they proved too good for Norwegian outfit Valerenga, running out routine 4-2 victors despite a large number of youngsters being given significant game time.
It took only 12 minutes for Victor Sanchez to collect a pass from Jonathan to strike home the Catalans’ opening goal of the pre-season campaign.
But this advantage didn’t last long at all as a foul by Gabriel Milito resulted in teenager Harmeet Singh levelling from the penalty spot, shooting past Pinto.
For a period the game looked to be somewhat in the balance, but Maxwell proved to be the unlikely game-breaker, pouncing on a rebound ten minutes before the interval to restore Barca’s advantage.
Bojan Krkic hit the post before the interval and wholesale changes were made by the Catalans at the break.
It took only four minutes for this new look XI to stamp their authority on the fixture, adding a third goal for the Spanish champions as Barcelona B forward Benja finished coolly when presented with a chance.
Seydou Keita completed the scoring for the Blaugrana on 64 minutes, knocking home an Oriol centre with his head.
Valerenga grabbed a late consolation through a Bojan Zajic shot that caught goalkeeper Mino napping, taking some of the polish off an efficient performance from the Catalan side.
