PARIS (AP)—Mathieu Debuchy’s winner in stoppage time gave Lille a 3-2 victory over champion Marseille in the French league on Saturday and improved his team’s chances of securing a Champions League spot.

Marseille clinched its ninth league title in the previous round on Wednesday and tops the standings with an unbeatable 75 points, five clear of Lille. Auxerre was third with 68, followed by Lyon with 66.

Elsewhere, it was: Auxerre 0, Lens 0; Valenciennes 2, Lyon 2; Montpellier 2, Lorient 1; Bordeaux 2, Sochaux 0; Rennes 2, Nice 2; Monaco 2, Nancy 1; Le Mans 1, Paris Saint-Germain 0; Saint-Etienne 0, Toulouse 1; Grenoble 2, Boulogne 0.

Mamadou Niang curled home a shot from the edge of the box to become the top striker in the league with 17 goals and put Marseille ahead after six minutes.

But Marseille was reduced to 10 men in the 26th when goalkeeper Steve Mandanda was sent off for tripping Ivory Coast forward Gervinho, who was clean through on goal. Yohan Cabaye sent Elinton Andrade the wrong way to notch his 13th goal this season and level for Lille.

“Down to 10 men, it was complicated to go the distance,” Marseille coach Didier Deschamps told Canal Plus television. “But I’m proud of what my players have achieved.”

Marseille recaptured the lead on the stroke of halftime when Vitorino Hilton buried home a rebound after a header from Benoit Cheyrou had been cleared off the goal line.

But Tulio de Melo headed in a cross from Ludovic Obraniak to equalize in the 80th before Debuchy nodded home a corner in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

“The team didn’t give in,” Lille coach Rudi Garcia said. “It believe until the very end.

“Marseille made life very difficult for us. We had to give our everything to win.”

Lille earned its fifth straight win to consolidate second place.

The top three French teams qualify for the Champions League next season while the fourth and fifth will play in the Europa League.

Midfielder Kim Kallstrom took a headed pass from Honorato Ederson to fire into the top corner in the 17th for Lyon.

Johan Audel headed home a corner from Fahid Ben Khalfallah to level in the 71st.

Valenciennes took the lead in the 79th when Renaud Cohade converted a penalty after Lyon goalkeeper Hugo Lloris fouled Gregory Pujol.

But Lyon salvaged a draw in the last minute to keep alive its hopes of landing a Champions League spot as Valenciennes defender Dianbobo Balde turned into his own net a cross from Lisandro Lopez.

“We still have our fate in our hands,” Lyon manager Claude Puel said. “It will be decided in the last match assuming that we get the job done against Monaco.”

Lyon can leapfrog Auxerre into third place if it beats Monaco in its game in hand next Wednesday.

In Montpellier, Victor Hugo Montano converted a penalty kick for the hosts in the 29th after Jeremy Morel had fouled Souleymane Camara.

Camara added a second goal for Montpellier from the penalty spot in the 43rd.

After Montpellier defender Emir Spahic picked up a second yellow card in the 81st, Gregory Bourrillon scored a consolation goal for Lorient in the 89th.

Montpellier remained in fifth place but went level on points with Lyon.

In Bordeaux, Geraldo Wendel converted a penalty in the 66th after Sochaux goalkeeper Mathieu Dreyer tripped him.

Jerome Leroy equalized in the 60th for Rennes, following up after Nice goalkeeper David Ospina saved a header from Asamoah Gyan.

Rennes made it 2-1 in the 67th when Sylvain Marveaux slipped the ball past Ospina.

But Emerse Fae leveled for Nice with a curling shot in the 76th.

Monaco opened the scoring with an own goal from Nancy defender Jordan Loties in the 7th.
