Brechin v Cowdenbeath - Play-off hopefuls set for crunch clash
Posted Tuesday, April 20, 2010 by PA
Brechin are again without defenders Anton Kurakins and Willie Dyer and midfield pair Neil Janczyk and Alex Walker due to injury for their clash with Cowdenbeath.
Saturday's 1-0 win over East Fife means three points for Jim Duffy's side against Cowden would see them secure a play-off place and leapfrog their opponents into third spot in the Division Two table.
Duffy was pleased to see his side get back to winning ways at the weekend and admits the result mattered more than the performance.
"It was important to get going after that defeat at Stirling," he said. "It was not a great performance on Saturday but it was hugely important as it sets up nicely for the visit of Danny Lennon's side."
Cowdenbeath defensive duo Scott Linton and Dene Droudge will again both be absent through injury for the clash.
Blue Brazil manager Danny Lennon is sure to have his players fired up for the encounter as they enter what will be a defining period in their season.
The Central Park side have only won once in their last four games to slip away from leaders Alloa and second-placed Stirling.
Lennon said: "We battled well to come back against an Arbroath side fighting for their lives on Saturday and we will need to be up for this game as well.
"We have a really tough run-in with four games against the sides in play-off places. It would be great to start that with a win at Brechin."
