Rovers triumph in relegation six-pointer

Raith gave their survival hopes a significant shot in the arm with a 2-0 victory over fellow strugglers Ayr.
Early goals from Grant Murray and Iain Williamson put Rovers in charge at Somerset Park and they are now six points above United with two games in hand.
It took the visitors just three minutes to open the scoring as Murray met Allan Walker`s corner with a fine diving header.
Raith doubled their lead in the 12th minute when Williamson latched on to a pass from Graham Weir before firing a low shot past Ayr goalkeeper Craig Samson.
Gregory Tade had two excellent opportunities to add a third for Rovers, but was denied by Samson on each occasion.
Ayr`s only meaningful first-half chance fell to Andy Aitken, but he headed over from a Dean Keenan corner before hobbling off with an injury shortly before the interval.
Mark Roberts should have pulled a goal back for the hosts in the 51st minute, only to scuff his shot straight at David McGurn.
Raith were rarely troubled thereafter and could have extended their advantage through Jamie Mole.
