Chaplain fires Dumbarton to victory

Dumbarton kept their slim play-off hopes alive with a 1-0 win over fellow contenders Brechin.
The Sons started brightly and Brechin goalkeeper Craig Nelson had to be at his best to deny Ben Gordon and Dennis Wyness.
As the half wore on, Wyness again forced Nelson into making a fine save, while at the other end, Michael White was on hand to keep out Rory McAllister's 20-yard effort.
The superb Nelson was called into action once more as he tipped Andrew Geggan's 30-yard strike over the crossbar two minutes after the break.
However, the Brechin defence was finally breached in the 56th minute when Michael Dunlop crossed for Scott Chaplain and the striker buried the ball past Nelson.
Jim Chapman's men continued to push forward and Nelson saved from Derek Carcary late on but Chaplain's strike proved to be enough to secure all three points.
