Inverness stretched their lead at the top of the First Division to seven points with a comfortable 2-0 victory at Morton.
Goals from prolific duo Richie Foran and leading scorer Adam Rooney sealed three more precious points for Terry Butcher's side, who are on course to return to the top flight.
Caley were worthy winners and could have won by a more emphatic margin, while defeat for Morton leaves them still facing a battle to avoid relegation.
David Witteveen, full of confidence following his hat-trick against Queen of South, had an chance to put Morton in front after just a minute but his left-foot finish was tipped wide by Ryan Esson.
And he was made to pay for that miss four minutes later when Jonathan Hayes crossed for Foran, who planted a header into the top-left corner of the net for his fourth goal in his last three games.
Hayes was almost on the scoresheet himself 32 minutes in but his left-foot drive from the edge of the penalty area rattled the crossbar.
But Rooney sealed the points six minutes from time with a measured right-foot finish from 20 yards out to make it 22 goals for the season in all competitions, as Caley made it five consecutive victories.
