Vidic denies United rift

Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic claims he has no intention of leaving Old Trafford and he has been angered by rumours claiming his relationship with manager Sir Alex Ferguson has broken down.

Vidic has been struggling with a leg injury and sat out the 3-2 Champions League first leg victory against AC Milan in the San Siro on Tuesday.

In an interview with Serbian newspaper Vecernje Novosti, he said: "I have never had a conflict of any kind with Sir Alex Ferguson and speculation that I want to leave United is completely untrue. I have a contract until the summer of 2012 and intend to see it through to the very last day."

He added: "United have made me the player I am today and there is no substance whatsoever in rumours that I have been looking for a move away to either Real Madrid or AC Milan."

Vidic has yet to play in 2010 and his continued absence has even given rise to speculation the Serbia international's career could be over, but the 28-year-old insists he will be back on the pitch sooner rather than later and believes he could play some part in Saturday's Barclays Premier League clash at Everton.

Vidic added: "I do not know why people are dealing with gossip and inventing things, and I have really not given them any reason.

"I think that in these three or four months I haven't give any interview to the English media, and I cannot even remember when I talked to our press.

"Maybe it's because of that. I am aware of that, but I'm not one of those people who think that they should speak every day, least of all to deny everything that is written, because in that case I would have to speak almost every day.

"I think I will return to action very quickly and hopefully I will be back to my best as soon as I am picked in the starting line-up again.

"I began to train with the first team five days ago. I believe that I will be there on Saturday against Everton in Liverpool, but I don't know if I will be among the 11 or I will start from the bench."
