Portsmouth match off

Posted Saturday, January 16, 2010 by PA

Portsmouth's Barclays Premier League match against Birmingham has become the highest-profile casualty on another day of weather-enforced postponements.

The pitch at Fratton Park failed a 10am inspection due to waterlogging.

Last week the cold snap caused a huge list of postponements due to frozen pitches, but the resulting thaw is now causing problems with wet playing surfaces.

Three League Two matches were called off this morning, with the fixtures between Macclesfield and Northampton, Accrington and Rotherham, and Rochdale and Port Vale all postponed.

Those were added to an already extensive list of today's fixtures postponed following inspections yesterday.

However, the surface at Barnet's Underhill ground passed an inspection this morning and their game against Lincoln goes ahead.
