Fernando Morientes (Monaco to Liverpool, £6.3m, 2005)
It looked like a masterstroke - one of Europe's top forwards, one of Rafa Benitez's beloved Spaniards, leaving Madrid for Liverpool. What could go wrong? Now at Marseille.
