CUELLAR: In excellent form for Villa
The Aston Villa ace has been in outstanding form recently and has helped spark the side's charge up to fourth place in the Premier League table.
The eye-catching performances led to the prospect of Real launching a bid for the Spaniard, who is still hoping to go to the World Cup finals with his country even though he has yet to win a cap.
The Bernabeu outfit have admitted they are looking for a new centre-back to replace Pepe, who is out for much, if not all, of the season.
Cuellar, 28, appears an ideal option but he is perfectly happy in the Midlands and steadfastly refused to add fuel to the flames in an interview with El Pais.
"It's a great honour to be linked with teams of that stature," he stated. "Although it's not true, that they mention you is important.
"I understand Pepe missing games is a headache for Madrid, if you're noticed normally though, just imagine what it is like at Madrid!
"I'm staying at Aston Villa. I have played right-back in games and am enjoying it more. You get forward, you attack. It's something you can't do as a centre-back.
"Nothing could happen [with Madrid]. This is the path that I have chosen. I was not forced to do anything. My dream was to play in a foreign league. Where better to do that than the Premier League?"
