Gomez stumped by lack of action

Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez admits he is struggling to understand why he cannot hold down a first-team place.
The summer signing from Stuttgart has had to make do with a place on the bench in the last three Bundesliga matches, despite three goals in his first six games of the season.
"I've felt very happy at Bayern from the start. Had I not scored, I could have understood the decision (to take him out of the team)," Gomez told Sport Bild.
"No one expected it, not me either. To digest and understand that was very difficult. I was thinking so many things at once."
Reports of a rift with coach Louis van Gaal, also in his first season at the Allianz Arena, have surfaced, although Gomez claims he has no problem with the Dutchman.
"It has always been suggested that we had a problem. I can only say we have no problem," he said. "He is unique. I have never had such a coach.
"The coach called me into his office before his decision. He said to me how he saw my situation and what he dislikes. And then he took me out of the team. Done."
Another Bayern striker enduring a tough time is Luca Toni and the Italian claims he could leave the club in January.
"I have four tough months behind me, it was clear the coach didn't favour me. I can't say that I will stay in Munich in the winter. That depends on the situation," the 32-year-old was quoted by Sport Bild as telling Gazzetta dello Sport.
