County eye cup shock

In-form Ross County are hoping to continue their good run of form and spark a Co-operative Cup upset when they take on SPL Dundee United.

The Staggies have won five games on the trot and boss Derek Adams is keen to make it six.

He continues with a full squad at his disposal and will be tempted to go with the same starting XI that defeated Ayr United at the weekend.

He said: "The lads are full of confidence right now and we are playing some good football as well.

"I'm hoping that will benefit us on Tuesday and we can really give a good account of ourselves. But United are a very good side and have a very good manager in Craig Levein."

Dundee United will be without Morgaro Gomis.

The Senegal midfielder will not be risked after contracting a virus and missing last weekend's game against Motherwell.

Scott Robertson will return to the side after suspension and defender Garry Kenneth is also in line to play.

Skipper Lee Wilkie is another manager Craig Levein is considering but he will not make a decision on him until the last minute.

Dundee boss Craig Levein is in no doubt his team were handed one of the toughest ties of the round.

The Victoria Park side have started the season in Division One in brilliant fashion, winning four of their first six matches to go top of the table.

Levein travelled to Dingwall to watch them in person against Queen of the South two weeks ago and has had scouts assessing their last three matches in a bid to ensure his team are as fully briefed as possible.

United made it to the final of the competition two seasons ago and have their sights set on a return to Hampden.

But Levein knows they will have to be at their absolute best to overcome the in-form Stags. He said: "I have been up to Dingwall to watch County myself and we've had another three reports done on their matches.

"They are really flying just now so it's one of the toughest draws we could have got, especially up there.

"They've got some really talented players and the biggest thing from Derek Adams' point of view is that they are on the crest of a wave just now.

"From that point of view you don't really want to be playing a team who are doing well at the top of their league away from home.

"We're under no illusions that it's a very difficult match. If we're going to get into the next round we're going to have to be at our best, there's no question about that."
