Gutman defends coaching methods

Hapoel Tel-Aviv coach Eli Gutman insists there is no disrespect meant behind his idea to plaster photographs of Celtic players over the dressing room walls ahead of Thursday's night's Europa League clash at the Bloomfield stadium.

The Hapoel players have been able to study pictures of the Hoops' squad since their 3-1 league win over Hapoel Beer-Sheva on Sunday.

However, Gutman insists his unusual coaching aid is one that he regularly uses in order to give his players maximum advantage.

The Hapoel coach said: "Listen, when you are playing against Chelsea, when you are playing against Manchester United, you do not need pictures, because we see them on the television all the time and we know all about them.

"But for Celtic you are giving them the respect of a big club, you want to do your homework seriously and not to take any chance of something going wrong.

"I have put pictures up before in European games and they have been up in the dressing room since our last game.

"People here know that I am a perfectionist and want to give my players all the details.

"It gives a sense of seriousness and belief."

Aiden McGeady returns from suspension for Celtic's trip to Israel.

The Republic of Ireland international sat out Saturday's 1-1 draw with Dundee United in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League but will be back in midfield as the Parkhead side look to get off to a positive start in their Group C campaign.

Club captain Stephen McManus continues to wait for his first Hoops start of the season after recovering from a knee injury.

Gary Caldwell believes Celtic can win the inaugural Europa League tournament.

Caldwell was quite matter-of-fact when asked about Celtic's hopes of lifting the trophy, saying: "We believe we can win it. We have proved in previous seasons in the Champions League that we can compete with the very best.

"This competition is a tier slightly below the Champions League, although there are some great teams in it.

"The top two pots (in the draw), you could see that there some top teams from all over Europe but, overall, we have a squad capable of going very far. The group will be difficult but then it's a knockout and we believe we can win it."
